This piece is an abstract aesthetic cup holder. Black sheet acrylic was the media I used to construct this piece. Since sheet acrylic is a form typically kept flat and in more rigid forms, I wanted to explore utilizing it to construct more organic forms. As for the mechanics, the wrist area of the hands is heavier than the hand areas. This means the object is unable to free stand but can instead hold up heavy items that would cause tipping of the item if the mass were centered. The palms of the hands are shaped differently, with one more suited to large items such as a 12oz cup, and the other suited towards small items, such as a shot class. While holding the correct sized item for the corresponding palm, this holder can stand itself on either hand.
