This piece is symbolic of viewpoint and the steps we take to get there. The name is derived from ‘aperture’ which is literally the opening in a lens but can more figuratively be seen as a window or door into another world. When viewing the piece, the world on the other side is focused and flipped, offering new perspective. The black steps support this lens. When viewed from directly above, the piece resembles a folding bed plate film camera.
